Top 10 ‘Songs That Shape Our World’

Time for another Top 10 – ‘Shape Songs’, inspired by this week’s themed photo blog on Shapes. As such the songs all contain one of the shapes featured; a circle, star, triangle, cross, square or rectangle. Check out a couple of Shape poems too on my poetry blog.

‘Songs That Shape Our World’

10= Bermuda Rectangle – Unkle Ho
10= Cross Wires – XTC
09. My Dark Star – Suede
08. Union Square – Tom Waits
07. The Only Living Boy In New Cross – Carter USM
06. The Calvary Cross – Richard & Linda Thompson
05. Dark Star – I Am Kloot
04. Bizarre Love Triangle – New Order
03. The Circle – Ocean Colour Scene
02. Wandering Star – Portishead

…and the completely random, utterly brilliant no. 1 this week is…

01. The Auld TriangleThe Pogues *

* This is quite apt, I think and a suitable tribute to the band’s guitarist Phillip Chevron, who sadly past away on Tuesday after a long battle against cancer. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.

    A great list of shaping songs. And yes, The Auld Triangle is a great song. The loss of Chevron will be mourned.
