When the sun goes down! Another Top 10!

9 May (late evening)

Some of you might already read or follow my daily photo blog Today’s Photo or My Daily Snap Every week is a new theme and this week it’s trees. Last week I launched this idea with sunsets from S-E Asia. To tie in with the photo theme every week I aim to round things off here with a Top 10 of songs on the week’s theme, plus a related poem which will be featured on Today’s Poem, thus tying in my big loves of poetry, photography and music! Anyway that’s the well-intended plan, we’ll have to see how it goes.

So later this week look out for something on trees, for now as I play catch-up, here’s a poem related to the sun that first appeared during NaPoWriMo in April (rising in this case rather than setting!) and a Top 10 of songs that are sun related.

Top 10 – Sun Related Songs

10. Walkin’ On Sunshine – Smashmouth
09. Paper Sun – Traffic
08. Sunshine Of Your Love – Cream
07. Sunshine On Leith – The Proclaimers
06. Shadow Of The Sun – Paul Weller
05. Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles
04. Holidays In The Sun – Sex Pistols
03. House Of The Rising Sun – The Animals
02. Blister In The Sun – Violent Femmes
…and the no.1 is…
01. When The Sun Goes Down – Arctic Monkeys

It’s hopefully a bit of fun, so if you want to suggest a song that could grace the Top 10 or you feel is glaring omission I’d love to hear from you. Top 10’s are my personal choice, not definitive and will certainly be eclectic! Enjoy.
